Choosing Your Online TV Service Wisely - Free Or Paid?

By Joanne Keith

Being able to watch online TV is surely one of the most appealing ideas to internet users. If you do a search online, you are likely to find various service providers in this line. Some offer it for free, and others charge a fee. There is nothing wrong with wanting to watch TV online for free, but you need to be aware of the difference usually between a free and a paid service, so that you can make a more informed purchase decision.

1. The Quality of TV Channels

Literally, you will not be able to access quality channels with any of the free TV services. Although some services claim to supply you with over 1000 channels, but only a small number of them actually work. With some sites, you can only view the programs in a small screen without being able to enlarge it to a visually-pleasant size.

You will have much more channel choices with a paid service. The one I am currently using let me watch more than 5000 channels and many of them are of really awesome quality. So, if you are lucky, you can spot on a really good service that only cost you a small one time fee, and you will find the price really holds value in the long run.

2. The Quantity of The Channels

As mentioned, most of the free services offer over 1000 channels, which is practically close to nothing as nearly all of them are junks.

Most paid online TV services will allow you to enjoy as many as 5000 channels, but not all of them are of the same quality. With the service which I am currently using, I have eventually come down to about 20 channels which I watch regularly. Considering that I only paid a small one-time fee for this service, I do believe I have got the worth of my money.

3. Reliability Of The Software Being Installed

Whether you opt for a free or paid service in the end, you need to install a software on to your computer to view the TV programs. With a free service, you really do not have much to say about the type of software you need to install.

You tend to have more trust on software provided by paid service, as almost all of them are free from spyware and adware and are backed up with customer support. One of the services I ran into also offers anti-spyware software as a bonus, which is quite assuring.

4. Customer Service and Technical Support

Almost none of the free service will afford to provide customer services of any kind. Even with the paid ones, not all of them offer high-quality after-sale support. To spot a good service, you can simply send then an email with a pre-sale question, and the good ones usually respond quickly and clearly.

5. A Strong Guarantee

With the paid services, many of them provide full satisfaction guarantee but not all will honor it. This why you should only purchase from a reputable company which processes order through secure online money processors.

I hope the above tips will give you a better understanding towards both free and paid services that allow you to watch online TV.

CCNA Books - 4 Reasons Why You Should Use A CCNA Book For Your CCNA Exam Preparation

By Francis Teo

Reading CCNA books is an excellent way to study for the CCNA exam, which is getting more and more difficult with every revision. The CCNA book market is very mature, with a wide variety of CCNA books available for every need. The alternative to this is to attend CCNA boot camps or a course in a traditional classroom with a qualified instructor. Another good choice is CCNA video training. Most people select their preparation method based on their budget and how they learn. There are 4 reasons why you should use a CCNA book to prepare for your CCNA exam:

1. Cheapest

The cheapest way to study for the CCNA exam is by buying and reading a CCNA book. A good CCNA book will typically not cost more than $50. Compare this to attending a classroom based course at a Cisco approved training centre, which will cost at least a few thousand dollars. When it comes to cost, nothing beats self-study using a CCNA book.

2. Complete Coverage

The CCNA exam has been around for a very long time. The CCNA books have been written to comprehensively cover all the exam objectives. The better books have bonus videos, sample exams and other goodies to help you have the most comprehensive exam preparation possible.

3. Technically Accurate

The typical CCNA book writer, author and technical reviewer usually has years of experience in the IT and computer networking industry. They are typically CCIE certified which means that they have reached the highest level of technical qualification as determined by Cisco. There are approximately only 20,000 certified and qualified CCIEs in the world today and it is considered to be a great honor to hold this certification. You can thus be assured that the book is written to a high degree of accuracy, at least technically.

4. Variety

There is a wide variety of books available in the market for all aspects of your CCNA preparation. These include books have provide deep coverage of the material, as well as the exam review type of books which are good for a quick revision before the CCNA exam. Books containing sample tests are also widely available, as are books that contain lab scenarios. I can say that there is a book for every aspect of the exam.

If you have a limited budget to prepare for your CCNA exam, why not consider using a CCNA book to prepare? You can have an entire library of CCNA books for just a couple of hundred dollars while the equivalent classroom course will run into the thousands!

How to Find if Your Computer is Wireless Ready

By Allway Jurgennson

In today's computer market, built in wireless capabilities are becoming standard equipment. Almost all laptops and desktops ship wireless ready. The reason is cost. Adding wireless capacity is inexpensive so manufacturers feel almost obligated to include it in their feature list. The consumer perception of the value of added wireless is large so the manufacturers lot of value from an inexpensive inclusion. Wireless is the future, so anything wireless that can be added is going to be a big hit with consumers.

Some consumers today are not that computer savvy. And, why should they be? Computers today come ready to go out of the box. So, being able to upgrade their desktop or laptop with more memory or a new peripheral can be a challenging task. However, they should be able to check what operating system they have, how much memory is in their system, what programs are installed and if there wireless computer is enabled for a wireless network. First, users should check the feature list the computer came with. It will say if your computer is wireless enabled.

Laptops and Intel Centrino Mobile Technology -----A lot of computer manufacturers do not explain well what Centrino means but if your laptop came with this built in its good thing. Centrino means that your laptop has wireless networking built in and you don't have to do anything to make your laptop wireless ready. Intel Centrino is just a name for the combination of the Intel Pentium M processor and Intel's' Pro Wireless card. A Centrino sticker will be displayed on your computer. If you dont see a Centrino sticker check your Device Manager to see if you have a wireless adapter.

Desktop Computers ----- Not sure if your desktop system has a wireless connection? Just turn it around and look for an antenna sticking out of the back of the case. If you see one then your computer has a card needed for it to be wireless enabled. If you don't see an antenna, it's still possible you could have a wireless device in the computer, especially if you purchased your system anytime after 2005. If you dont see an antenna, there is a way to check using Windows.

If you think you have a wireless device, but it has a yellow warning sign next to its name in the Device Manager, you should take a look at it to see what may be wrong by double clicking on it. Windows should then tell you why the device is not working at the moment and may even suggest that you go through its troubleshooter program. Do that before you do anything else. If it turns out to be a driver problem, you should insert the driver CD that came with your computer. If you can't find the driver CD that came with your computer - don't worry because you should be able to find it on line and download the appropriate driver on line. The first step would be to go to website of your computers manufacturer and do a search for the name of the wireless device that showed up in your Device Manager. Once you find the correct driver simply download it and follow the instructions. After all this (actually about 5 minutes) you may discover that you don't have a wireless enabled computer -- oh well, those are the breaks. However, it's clearly better to find out your computers wireless capacity now -- before you go out and buy some wireless equipment and then realize that you didn't even need it.

Free Unlisted Phone Number Search: Do The Really Exist?

By Marc Marseille

The primary option for performing a reverse cellular phone search is the use of the without charge reverse directories. The common speculation amongst numerous is whether these directories are any good. The resolution to that question is a quite simple but it is a two fold answer.

There is an additional question that numerous face when choosing the best reverse mobile phone directory. The question is; Why would somebody pay for reverse phone investigation when there are no cost directories? In this testimony, I will provide you with the answers to both questions.

The no cost reverse cellular phone directories has the same interface as the paid directories with only one difference. The data provided with the free of charge search more often then not will not be specific. These directories are set up to direct you in the right direction. The info they provide will be be very broad.

Since the information you will receive will not be precise or too weak, the free of charge reverse cellular phone search will then direct you to a more perfect paid listing. That means that yes free directories work, but their duty is not to provide you with the information you seek, they are simply a liaison to the real information.

The word no cost is primarily used by these services to get you in the door. Once you are in then odds are you will not leave their hold, particularly if you are really trying to trace someone. This strategy only works because so many people are looking for a good buy, and there is no better bargain than free of charge.

Once you realize that there is no such thing as a free of charge reverse searchor no cost reverse cell phone index, you can decide to go straight to the source the next time, unless you are someone who just enjoys surfing online. You can also decide to get an one year membership to the reverse mobile directory for limitless searches so you won't have to turn your wheel every time you want to lookup someone.

The benefits of going straight to the source is that it will conserve you time and frustration. You will also be able to get a more detailed info on your subject than just the a short summary of what is in the record. The advanced paid searches give you precise info due to their frequent updating to keep accurate results.

The bait and switch tactic has been around for a lengthy time. After all, if you search for free of charge reverse phone search then I guess you got exactly what you were looking for. Free can definitely be a great surprise, but from my experiences online, there is always a catch to anything that is given away for free. You must take into account the old saying; You get what you pay for.

CCNA Books - Use Our Checklist So You Can Buy The Right CCNA Book

By Francis Teo

CCNA books are an excellent choice when you want to study for the CCNA on your own or just as a supplementary material to the CCNA classroom-based course you might be taking. There are so many books in the market today that you might be confused as to what to buy. Here is a checklist which you can use as a reference to choose the right CCNA book:

1. Version of exam - Cisco tends to revise the CCNA, ICND1 and ICND2 exams on a regular basis. You can expect this to happen about once every 1-2 years. When this happens, new material is added to the exam and you'll be required to know this if you want to pass the exam. You need to ensure that the book you buy is for the current version of the exam. You can do this easily by checking for the exam code which is usually printed on the book.

2. Technical qualifications of authors - The top names in the CCNA book writing field are certified CCIEs with many years of experience. The best books also have highly qualified technical reviewers.

3. Publisher of book - Sybex is a well-known name when it comes to CCNA certification. It has an excellent series of books written by Todd Lammle. Cisco Press books are also excellent, because it is the only official publisher of Cisco exam materials, you can be sure that Cisco Press books follow the latest syllabus and requirements of the CCNA exam. If you can afford it, you should have at least a few Cisco Press books.

4. Exam samples - Check to see if there are any exam samples included in the book. You will definitely need this to get some extra confidence before you go for the exam.

5. Printable electronic copy - I find it very convenient to be able to print only the chapters I need from the electronic copy and bring it along to read.

6. Videos - Some books have included bonus videos which will teach you more about the harder topics in the CCNA exam, for example, subnetting. These are more useful then just using the print book and are a good plus.

7. Price of book - The price of the book is also something to consider. Most of the Cisco Press CCNA books are only available in hardcopy and are more expensive. Sybex CCNA books are usually available in both hardcopy and softcopy and thus are usually cheaper. Please weigh the cost carefully as you don't want to be study with a substandard book and fail the exam!

The Place You Should Visit Before Buying Automotive GPS

By Michael Torc

Amazon.com, believe it or not, provides a simple way to research product and market information. This is a result of Amazon's unique search and sort capabilities that make it work like a powerful search engine.

One of the best applications of Amazon is to find auto GPS units and other electronic gadgets. The reason for this is that 'global positioning systems' is a constantly evolving field due to rapid advances in technology and as a result of fierce competition between manufacturers. Amazon's search engine features make it easy to cut through the noise and easily find the information you are looking for. Amazon then, is more than just an online store.

To find top rated automotive GPS, first go to Amazon.com. Click on the drop down input on the left and select 'Electronics'. Enter 'gps' to the right of the input box. Then click the orange 'GO' button on the right and wait for the query.

The results page will display a wide bar across the top of the page. Look in that bar for 'See Most Popular in:' and note the list of GPS categories listed across the page. To view all the automotive GPS units that are being offered through Amazon, click the 'Vehicle' category from that list. Amazon sorts them by price in descending order. You are mainly interested in the first item on the list because it is the top rated GPS based on the quantity of units sold.

The ease of Internet shopping has made prospective buyers more scrupulous before buying a product. This is to avoid severe buyer's remorse let alone returning a wrong product. The advantage with the Amazon system is that it tells you which products consumers prefer. Not only is the product ranking meaningful, Amazon allows its buyers to write reviews for each product. This information is very powerful when you want to find the top rated GPS.

Buying a GPS For Your Travels

By Lewis Bird

The new GPS technology has caused many changes in personal navigation, public transportation and vehicle tracking. Any functional GPS receiver gives you access to the orbiting satellites providing information on destination, current location or the shortest route to take. Moreover, new GPS devices can give information on hotels, traffic conditions, ATMS, restaurants and gas stations for the map on which you navigate. Discreet, convenient and highly reliable, the new GPS units have marked a shift in technological development and a new age of communications. Although functioning on a set of common principles, GPS units differ according to brand, design and features.

The way to get to a destination by car? Designed to help with navigation of more complicated systems such as air crafts, GPS devices match all the requirements of a traveler. GPS for automobiles are products that receive and decode signals from a complex network of satellites that allow you to figure out the current car location and help you set the route for a destination. GPS receivers are available in numerous designs, formats and models, with a higher or lower user-friendly rate. Cheap systems are straightforward to plug in and store, but they can be more difficult to operate and not exactly high quality. More quality comes with more cash.

The vehicle layout is incredibly significant when trying to choose a certain model. Some models of GPS for automobiles include monitors for map display, but the presence of the monitor on the dashboard may be uncomfortable with some automobile designs. You have got to make sure that the device doesn't block the air vents and that it does not ruin the view from the passenger's seat. GPS for autos therefore need to be chosen so as to match the dashboard features and the entire interior vehicle design for optimum of potency and convenience.

Multiple features! This is one other important criterion of selecting GPS for autos. There are folk who like to have many ways available to get information on the simplest way to reach destination. Some GPS receivers will help you navigate by using the data from a private addresses book, others select the location straight from the map, while others can operate by junction or without delay by address. Moreover, following the same line of thought you should purchase a GPS for autos that will give both graphical and vocal directions. Besides oral directions, the GPS monitor displays arrows to indicate the direction, decides the position of the car as related to the destination and shows the name of the street.

There are GPS for cars that provide information on points of interest, airports, ATMs, hotels, restaurants and many other sites. Normally, such a device is a bit more expensive, but when you travel a lot and need to go from place to place, information is crucial. Moreover, very advanced GPS systems can make updates about the points-of-interest from a certain region. Given the multitude of features, it may seem hard to find the right GPS for cars. Testing the product could be the wisest thing to do under the circumstances, and retailers should be able to show you demo units available in their store. Then, you'll know what to shop for!

Improving Your Golf Skills with Software

By Joseph Aaron

If ever you have spent time considering how dependent we are on technology, stop and ponder this: there is software which enhances nearly anything you could think of. For the non- computer savvy; software is a computer program which automatically does various tasks. This is as opposed to hardware, which refers to the tangable computer parts and sub-systems. A great system for you to consider is the Garmin Golflogix GPS.

When a particluar product or process is wildly popular, there will be an enormous collection of software marketed for it. You should realize, though, a substantial amount of software usually implies fluctuating levels of quality. As an example, golf is a well-established game which has a steady software following. Some golf software can complement your game and possibly improve your score. Other golf software is either so complicated to apply or so redundant that it could sometimes hinder your game, unless you use a good system like the Garmin Golflogix GPS.

Usually, golf software allows you to decide how far your ball will fly and the way your ball will respond in different weather conditions, and also when you use different clubs. With the addition of a Global Positioning System or GPS, the possible abilities of golf software increase considerably. The premise is that satellite linking software could measure the distances between various locations on a golf course, enabling the player to make calculated judgments. The GPS is used when you need data concerning your position relative to surrounding water hazards and tees. There are several considerations to take into account when deciding on any golf GPS software.

The primary thing to look at when buying software is the product's hardware specifications. These will determine the speed at which a program will function, or whether it will function at all on a certain machine. Golf GPS systems are microcomputers that function only as electronic golf assistants, however, golf GPS software is designed to run on a handheld appliance like a Pocket PC. Some of the points you ought to find out with regard to your next purchase of software includes what computers will it work on, what operating system can it interface with, and the amount RAM and hard memory will it use? Pocket-sized devices are less powerful than laptop and desktop computers, therefore knowing these factors becomes considerably more important.

Next are the features of the software itself. Is it quick to install? Can it update regularly with new functions or maps? As it is not possible to store information on every individual golf course on the planet on a single handheld computer, swapping data in and out ought to be a simple procedure. In addition you ought to select software with regards to whether the manufacturer provides free data downloads or subscriptions.

In the real world is where this software will finally prove itself. The user interface ought to be intelligent, clear and concise as well as easy to use. If the software offers enhanced maps like aerial or satellite photos, are the photos recognizable? Of course, the information and directions must be precise to be worth a dime.

Golf GPS software is redefining the way amatuers play golf. Golf is a sport, and a golfer's achievement is something everyone notices. For a few players, though, the point of the game will only be found in happily taking pleasure in the outdoors instead of their score. The Garmin Golflogix GPS is a great system to complement your software.

CCNA Virtual Lab - Pros and Cons of Using A Router Simulator For Your CCNA Preparation

By Francis Teo

Cisco introduced simulation type questions into the CCNA exam, and since then it has become crucial that CCNA candidates have some practice on configuring Cisco devices before attempting the test. This is because the simulations probably carry a large number of points for score computational purposes. There are 2 well known ways to get this practice - get some used Cisco equipment or hope that you employer has a lab you can practice on.

The 3rd option is to use a CCNA virtual lab product. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of using a CCNA virtual lab for your exam preparation.

Why You Should Use One

1. Portability - By installing the simulator on a laptop, you are able to put in practice hours where ever and when ever you feel like it. For a home lab, you are able to only do this if you are physically close to your home lab.

2. Low cost - Cisco router packages can get very expensive and can cost $1000 or more, depending on your choice of equipment. CCNA virtual labs are much cheaper, costing only $100 to $150. This is a more cost effective option.

3. Included Lab Exercises - The virtual lab products usually provide guided exercises together with the simulation to help you master the required topics for the CCNA. It's like having an instructor there with you to guide you along.

4. Supplementary material to books - If you know which package to get, you will end up with a comprehensive package for your CCNA preparation. This is because the virtual lab is usually written to follow the syllabus of certain books and the lab and the book usually refer to each other.

Why You Should Not Use One

1. Not a full simulation - The simulator might have problems simulating the full set of Cisco IOS commands and does not really function as a real router or switch. It only supports all the commands you are required to know for the CCNA exam.

2. Limited Usage - If you are intending to study further and take the CCNP exams, the limited set of commands will not be enough, and you will have to purchase a real CCNP lab for practice in future.

Renting A Projector Is Easier Than Buying

By Amy Nutt

Economically, a person should really be concerned about how they spend their money. With the climate that our countries are in world-wide, there is simply no need to just throw money away. Considering everything else that needs to be paid, such as bills and the ever-rising gas prices, there is no need for a person to be financially irresponsible.

The penalty for things this sort of irresponsibility is the loss of these things, and no one likes to lose their comfort that they have built for themselves. So, wherever able, a person should really consider spending any amount of money. So, if you're in the need for a projector for whatever reason that you may have, consider renting it instead of buying it.

Why Renting is a Better Choice

Renting a projector is something that more and more people are considering to be the better option, as people generally do not need to have a projector in every facet of life, not even in most cases. By buying one, you are spending multiple hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars for something that will not have every day use. By renting a projector, you are saving yourself hundreds of dollars, which can go to more worthwhile things.

Choosing to rent a projector is clearly the more responsible choice for this reason, as well as another. Consider the projector that you can rent as opposed to the one you can buy. When you're buying a projector, you're thinking about how much it may cost for you to buy it. If you're in the same position as many people, you're not going to buy one of the better ones because of how much they can cost. When you rent them, you have a better chance of getting one of the top of the line projectors, as you're only renting it, and not spending the hundreds that it may cost.

Decisions, Decisions

When considering to whether buy a projector or to rent it, it essentially comes down to a thing of cost. Clearly, renting the projector will be cheaper, but also consider the sad reality that you may break this projector or it doesn't work properly. For the person who bought the projector, there is the issue of a huge loss of money here. The place where you got it may not want to take it back if it doesn't work properly.

If you rented it and found that it doesn't work, they will charge for you it, but you will more than likely be able to pay it back in increments that you can afford. Understandably, either way you're at a loss, yet if you rent it the loss is something that comes in as a softer blow.

Renting a projector is something that everyone should consider for all of their projector needs, as it is the more economical decision. You basically do not want to be stuck with something that cost you a lot of money, especially if you're not going to use it on a daily basis.

CCNA Books - How to Choose Between the 2 Types

By Francis Teo

There are such a lot of CCNA books to help prepare for the difficult exam these days that it can be hard to choose. These books can be divided into roughly 2 categories - self-study books and exam certification books.

If you do not already have some networking knowledge, the self study books will provide the first steps to the world of computer and Cisco networking. This is because these books are very detailed and will take a close look at the concepts that you are expected to know for the exam. If you already have a job as a CCNA networks engineer, the understanding you gain will be extremely helpful.

The self study books may be too much, however, if you are a more experienced network engineer who is just looking for re-certification. This is because the self study series of books is not designed to be a quick reference but will go much more in-depth.

What you will find in the exam certification books is that they are well aligned with the objectives of the CCNA exam as published by Cisco. They are designed to be more as a quick reference and will not go as deep when you compare them to the self study books.

Since the exam certification books match exactly with the exam objectives issued by Cisco, you can be sure that they will prepare you well for the exam. It is extremely useful as a tool for CCNA exam re-certification.

If you are new to the networking world, you might find that the exam certification books do not go into that much detail as required. However, these books are still a very good reference if you are reading CCNA books in combination with taking a CCNA course with a Cisco authorized partner or academy.

If you are able to afford it, you should get both types of books. First, you can use the self study books to gain a comprehensive understanding of the CCNA exam material before you use the exam certification books for a quick last-minute review before you take the actual test.

Who Are the People That Need Computer Rental

By Amy Nutt

To the average computer user, renting a computer seems a little strange. Why wouldn't you want to own the machine? To the average household, renting a computer does not make much sense, but there are some organizations and individuals who can stand to save a lot of money with this option.

Entrepreneurs

The entrepreneurial among us often find the cost of starting their new enterprises to be the main thing that holds them back. One of the biggest costs associated with starting a new business venture is the cost of technology. Computers are not cheap.

Those interested in starting a new business but lacking the resources to purchase new technology can rent some instead. Once the business is up and running, bringing in income, they can start setting money aside to purchase their own equipment. This ensures that the business starts with excellent, up-to-date equipment, rather than the old computer the entrepreneur has been using at home.

Conference Speakers

Those who frequently travel to speak at conferences and seminars find the hassle of bringing their own computers with them to be too much to deal with. Not only do they have the added time it takes to get through security, but they also have the risk of theft, damage, or loss of their valuable equipment. Sometimes the seminar is best serviced by offering computers to the listeners as well as the presenter. Carting that many computers through an airport is almost impossible.

Computer rental gives these individuals the best solution. They can bring their presentation on CDROM, leaving the computer behind. When they arrive at the conference venue, the computer equipment they need will be waiting for them, set up, and ready to use. All they have to do is stick their disc in and they can start their presentation.

Trade Show Presenters

Those who frequently set up booths at trade shows can also benefit from computer rental. Like the conference presenter, trade show presenters struggle to carry computer equipment on the airplane or bus as they travel. Depending on the type of booth they set up, they may want additional upgrades like huge wide-screen monitors and extra computers for potential customers to use, and transporting these items without damage is almost impossible. A computer rental company can have the necessary equipment ready for the presenter when he arrives at the trade show venue.

Individuals Facing a Transition Time

Are you moving soon? Are you about to end one chapter of your life and start another? If you do not already have a computer, but wish to get one soon, renting during this transition time might be the best option. You will have access to word processing programs to brush up your resume and cover letter, the Internet to look for jobs, and email to keep others in the know about what is going on in your life, but you will not have to fork out hundreds of dollars to purchase a machine. When you are in a more settled position, you can look to buy that computer.

Computer rental is ideal for people who have a temporary need for quality computer equipment, either when traveling, in a transition period, or starting up a new business, but do not have the collateral necessary to buy a new machine. If you are in one of these situations, consider renting a computer.

Everything Concerning The Essentials Of GPS Runner Watches

By Derick Sanuro

Technology has come a long way inside a short stage of time. A great illustration is the Global Positioning System which is a collection of satellites in geosynchronous orbit that triangulates your position to as close as three meters. Shrink that technology, place it in a watch, and you have a device that runners call the GPS running watch.

Since a GPS runner watch combines GPS tracking ability with the information collection capacity of a computer, it can collect and collect information on many aspects of your work out. Some of the information a GPS running watch can gather include speed, pace, distance, and course data.

While you are running, you can apply the information to pace yourself. At the end of your run the information can be downloaded to your computer and used to examine your development. The multi-session functions included among numerous GPS running watches offer you the capacity to measure up to multiple runs.

GPS running watches are a little bigger than regular digital watches due to the built-in GPS transmitter. Other than that they look just like normal watches. Most GPS runner watches are able to be programmed with many workout types. Programmed workouts can be tied to time and distance or workouts can be tied to the quantity of calories burned or the rate of your pulse.

The GPS running watch can be set to have you do a period of intense exercise, for instance three minutes of vigorous exercise, and next have one follow that with a 1 minute cool down or rest cycle. This workout is called a step or interval workout.

If you have your GPS running watch set for a timed workout it counts down just like the average timer. With the heart rate workout a sensor monitors your pulse and notifies your if your heart rate goes over or falls beneath your target rates. In the calorie burn mode your GPS runner watch monitors the quantity of calories you have burned and in the distance setting it will notify you when you reach your target distance.

There are GPS running watches with altimeter technology to keep track of inclines and declines. Weather functions can track temperature and climate conditions. Foot pods put in your shoes can share information about your stride length and the speed of your pace. Warm-up and cool-down options are available and downloadable digital maps can show you, keep you from getting lost plus mark your path. A heart monitor allows you to keep your pulse rate in check.

A lot of GPS running watches can be converted from wrist-top units to handlebar-mounted units for use with a bike. This option is specially handy if you compete in biathlon or triathlon races. Nearly all GPS running watches have bike speed and cadence sensors. You can also discover waterproof GPS runner watches that run as many as 50 meters in depth.

Free Satellite Receiver

By Stephen Nepstein

If you believed, the only possible way to have TV was to lay out a fortune on satellite or cable company subscriptions you might want to look into free to air receivers. These special receivers were designed to pick up unencrypted broadcasts. Would you have a belief in several areas there are as much as two hundred plus channels available that aren't encrypted?

Naturally, this implies there are channels that may not be accessible with a free satellite receiver. Many channels like ESPN, HBO and other premium channels are encoded and unable to be seen on a FTA receiver. As with any thing of this nature, there are pros and cons to using this kind of service.

Pros

The first bonus to a free satellite receiver is the price, free television! No more expensive subscription services needed to watch many great channels. The only cost you will have is the initial price of the device, after that you have nothing more to buy, ever.

A limited pro is the availability of foreign language TV. If you speak another language such as Spanish, German or Chinese you will find your selection of programming vast. This is definitely not a service you will find with standard cable or satellite service.

You will have small to fret about with children's programming. Children can enjoy PBS, PBS kids and a lot of other educational programs. NASA has their own channel as does Bloomberg and even the Pentagon! You've got an arms depot of tutorial opportunities in easy reach and little risk of nakedness or controversial language.

Religious programming is also generally available with a free satellite receiver. FTA receivers tune in several Christian channels including but not limited to, The God Channel, EWTN, and JCTV. Some wire firms and satellite providers are getting better about offering this kind of programming but with a free satellite receiver, you are now not limited to sparse decisions.

Cons

On the down side, there are a few channels you will be unable to get with a free satellite receiver. Premium channels as a rule will be blocked from FTA receivers. This is done so cable, satellite and networks can collect from consumer subscription prices!

If you live in a rural area a long way from the city you may find over the air broadcasts are limited. These kinds of transmissions do not get far outside the town in which they're broadcast from, however the introduction of the new digital transmission may change this noticeably.

Conclusion

While you may not wish to dump your cable or satellite company utterly it is good to know that you've got the option if you choose. If your days are spent watching more news than films or you are seldom home to catch a picture a free satellite receiver could save you tons of money.

Buying Hand Held GPS Units

By Stephen Nepstein

You'll find a hand held GPS between $80 and $450. Depending on what you want it for, a cheaper version may suit your wishes absolutely fine. If you have special wants, you could need more expensive hand held GPS. Look for one that's sturdy enough to be taken out and about with you.

A good GPS should have topographic maps, an elevation view, and a wireless exchange. It should allow you to log in your journey. An electronic compass and barometric altimeter is generally part of the package. So long as the accuracy is inside about 20 feet, you can consider that model awfully accurate. Most are straightforward to use after they are set up.

Most will need a technique to recharge often. The more features that a GPS offers, the more battery power it tends to use. Color screens have a tendency to use more batteries than a black and white screen. Using NI-MH batteries may extend the time spent between battery changes.

The Sony PSP GPS receiver has been well received. Its antenna updates each second and only takes 40 seconds to fix on the satellites once it is turned on. It provides 2D and 3D locations, town guides and driving directions.

A hand held GPS is helpful if you travel a lot, if you like to go out into the badlands or if you need to find locations frequently. If you like to geocache, a GPS is important. Extra maps may cost more. Be sure to buy only what you want to keep your costs down if this is important.

When you're looking for a GPS, ensure it is waterproof. Take a look at its features and choose one with the features you want most. Attempt to find one with an enormous, articulate screen and an intuitive interface. Look for a USB interface to make it better to use with your computer. Ensure it is compatible with your PC's operating system.

It always helps to read handheld GPS reviews before you buy so you don't buy one that won't suit your requirements. The more reviews you read, the better prepared you'll be for your purchase. You want to find one that may be simple to learn.

As soon as you've chosen the hand held GPS that suits your wishes, you will be proficient to operate it simply. Some of them want a little tech support to get it set up correctly, but then your hand held GPS should work.

Computer Viruses and the Negative Impact on Business

By Amy Nutt

Computers are very detailed machines that function by set rules, codes and languages. Everything follows a pattern and schedule in order to operate efficiently. Computer viruses can affect the cosmetics of a computer such as the screen and display appearances or the simple functions such as the way the keyboard operates or the functionality of the drives. Some of these symptoms may seem to be only a minor inconvenience, but when you see these signs you should wonder what may have caused the change and what else may be going on that you can't see. Other symptoms can include loss of files, decrease in memory space, slow operation and damaged programs.

The writer of the virus determines how they will infect the system as well as what they want the virus to do. In most cases, a virus will perform damage to the host system, and may do this while performing another function such as retrieving information, and then spread to the remainder of the network.

A computer virus is similar to a medical virus in that it often occurs even when precautions were taken to prevent it. Particularly malicious viruses steal information and data, which may be confidential. This may be customer or client information of a personal nature whether medical, financial or some other form. It may be company information specific to employee's records, user names and passwords or other functions of the business. Information may simultaneously be erased. It can pick up information from any other computer in the network. It can locate other users and obtain their information.

There are many programs available and they are a must-have for an individual's personal computer and certainly for that of a business. Strong measures must be taken to prevent viruses within a company, as one infected computer is opening the door to the entire network, putting clients, customers and even employees at risk. Businesses should understand that the condition of their system is susceptible to change with every employee that signs into the network. Training should be instituted to prevent damage by teaching employees how to determine what is safe use of the system, how to update their protection programs and how to know if something is questionable and when to bring it to the attention of the IT department. It is always helpful to set up the virus protection programs to run automatically and the individual systems or the network as a whole can be set to automatically update the programs that are install along with fixes and patches as needed. In addition to anti-virus removal programs a filter may also help to block viruses.

While the anti-virus is placed inside the firewall, a filter is placed on the outside and closer to the server. Users may be limited as far as what can be received and may not be able to open attachments. This will undoubtedly create an inconvenience, though it is in the best interest of the company and will save money by eliminating loss of business if a shutdown is needed to correct a problem. A virus usually spreads very quickly and for a large company this can be costly. Prevention is always the least costly way to reduce the risk of virus.

Learn To Set Up A Wireless Network In Your Study

By Jonathan Carmichael

Setting up a wireless network might seem like a daunting task, but a bit of knowledge about key components and common pitfalls can go a long way toward a stable, feature network for all your computers and wireless devices. This overview briefly covers what you'll need to know to set up a wireless network in no time.

The most crucial component in any wireless home network is the access point, often referred to as an AP. Many consumer devices marketed as routers provide this functionality and much more, offering firewalls and web-based configuration interfaces, and it is usually easiest to purchase one of these.

When buying a router, pay particular attention to what versions of 802.11--the technical designation for the protocol WiFi devices speak--are supported. Whatever choice you make will almost certainly be compatible with all of your wireless devices, but you might enjoy extra efficiency by selecting a router that supports 802.11N if you know that one or more of your devices supports it.

Also, consider the range of each router you evaluate. A good choice should have enough range to provide coverage for your entire home and slightly beyond as to ensure that you'll rarely lose a signal.

Once the router is connected and installed, it is time to consider various aspects of wireless security. By default, most routers ship with no security enabled as to ease initial configuration. This not only means that anyone can connect to your network, but that anyone nearby can read most of your traffic, extracting passwords and other sensitive information.

Unless you're quite certain that you know what you're doing, enabling wireless security should be one of your first configuration tasks. This prevents others from viewing or joining your network without a password, and also makes sniffing network traffic much more difficult.

There are a variety of security schemes from which to choose, more than can be discussed here. Whichever method you pick should be compatible with all computers and devices on your network. If in doubt, WiFi Protected Access or WPA is usually a safe and compatible choice.

Your next step is to configure all your devices and computers to work on your network. Depending on your operating systems and devices these steps can vary, however generally the following pattern will work.

Tell each of your individual wireless devices to connect to the network. Your network will have a specific name provided by the router. You can find this information in the manual or in the first few screens of the user interface.

If you've secured your network as previously discussed, the device should next prompt for the method used and the chosen password. These should match those set within the router. If all goes well, the network connection should be established within a few seconds.

As wireless internet access and setting up wireless networks becomes more common, many resources are becoming available that might help. Many manuals accompanying routers provide enough introductory material to help novice network administrators get started.

Google is also an invaluable resource when resolving problems related to setting up wireless networks, as someone else has certainly experienced and resolved any issue with which you might be struggling.

Comcast TV Promos

By Tina Harrison

Comcast is spreading across the nation making their way in the cable television industry as the largest cable tv company. They rank only second to AT&T with their high speed internet services, and fourth in phone services. The company, founded in 1963 is putting together some great deals for cable, high speed internet, and phone that other cable companies are finding the competition too tough to compete with.

Let's face it if you're still on dial up then you are truly in the dark ages. Broadband internet is all the rage if you want to zip through websites at lightning speeds and Comcast TV has wonderful connections in that department. Broadband digital cable highspeed internet technology is how Comcast Cable is able to deliver this wonderful service to you. Your desire is only a click away with speeds 6 times that of DSL. They offer you two choices of high speed internet. One being of 8 mbps for normal high speed and the other 12 mbps for super fast speed!

How many times have you sat there waiting for a simple clip from Youtube to download? Well, wait no more, CNN streamlines in seconds literally at the click of a button. Listen to everything from the Beatles to Beyonce with Rhapsody featuring over 50 music channels. For NASCAR fans, you can ride along by listening to car audio.

The package comes along with seven email addresses, so you don't have to share with everyone in your house. Even if you have several PCs in the house, Comcast High-Speed internet allows you to convert your home into a wifi hotspot with a free wireless router. Who can resist that? But wait, that's not all, it's also McAfee safe. What a excellent deal.

Comcast TV is widely known for their digital cable. There has been a race is on to find something better than cable. People have been switching over to satellite for awhile now. The reason has been that most cable companies charge an arm and a leg for features they can get cheaper elsewhere. But Comcast Cable TV is different. In fact I dare you to find a better deal than what they offer. They present over 200 channels, forty music channels, High Def TV, parental control, and DVR's so you can stop, rewind, record and play your favorite programs without ever having to hook up a VCR.

Just when you thought you had everything, Comcast Cable adds digital voice to their menu. Again, many people have left home telephones for their cell due to the high prices. So what does Comcast TV do? They offer you a plan that gives you a home phone starting at a low price.

Now you might be saying that its not that low, well it is when you consider that you have unlimited nationwide calling. Call your uncle in Dallas from North Dakota and not pay a cent more. You may think that it stops there, but it doesn't. There are close to 12 features including call waiting, speed dialing, and caller ID.

Hands down, Comcast TV has by far beat out all of the rest. Get the greatest highspeed internet, cable tv, and digital voice deal starting at a low monthy price. If they're not in your city yet, they will be soon.

GPS - How It Got On Your Dashboard

By Matt Meeano

Man has always developed tools to help him deal with conditions on this planet. Hundreds of thousands of years have passed while Man has gone on to create tools to not only help him hunt but build homes (and even the Great Wall Of China). That same zest for creation that lead to building ships that could cross the oceans has now given us Global Positioning System, or GPS.

GPS has so wormed its way into our culture that millions of people are using it all around the globe this very minute in order to get from Point A to Point B and to pinpoint their present location. To understand exactly why these people are using GPS to help them in their daily lives, it is good to understand a bit more about the technology that allows it to work.

The way GPS works is a relatively simple concept when broken down completely. Strategically placed satellites that are orbiting the Earth, relay a signal searching for any GPS receiver on the surface of the Earth. The signal is received by the GPS unit and then decoded. The unit and the satellite then communicate with each other and the satellite then transmits the coordinates to the GPS unit. This transfer of data allows anyone looking at the GPS screen to see where they are currently located.

While the original GPS system of satellites was only used by the United States military in the 1970s and 1980s, the technology has been made available to everyday people since the 1990s. The limited release in the early years meant that the price of GPS units was very high. Now that GPS has become more widespread, you can get a good unit for less than $200.

Cheap GPS units mean only one thing - the adoption of their use by a large swath of the population. These inexpensive units mean that pretty much every car on the road has them on the dashboard so that the driver doesn't get lose or waste money on gasoline spent going the wrong way.

If you purchase a car and it has a GPS option, you are well served to purchase it as it will not only help you, it will increase the vehicles resale. If your vehicle did not come equipped with a GPS as an option, you will want to find one that fits your budget and individual preferences.

GPS has made the time honored journey of a piece of technology that benefits people in peacetime that was originally developed for warfare.
